The two core activities of the LimaKids programme are- Limakids soccer league
- Limakids street clinic
Limakids is entirely funded by voluntary donations and occasional small grant awards and is a programme of the Peruvian NGO AB PRISMA (www.prisma.org.pe).
Limakids is also involved in a number of other activities which are either established and constantly evolving or which are under development. The identity document project is an initiative borne of the realization that lack of formal identity documentation is a significant obstacle to the accessing of social security support for medical treatment. The social work experience project offers the opportunity for interaction between children living in selected Lima orphanages and Peruvian schoolchildren from more fortunate backgrounds through constructive activities such as painting recreation spaces or interactive arts such as dance or music. The Photo-voice project takes its lead from a global movement whose mission is to empower marginalised people to tell their life-stories through photography (http://www.photovoice.org). Preliminary work with a group of street children revealed some startling and stark, though sometimes warm, insights into their daily struggles. |
